Flexible Entry and Comprehensive Curriculum

The American University of Barbados warmly embraces students from various educational systems worldwide. The institution offers a flexible entry process, accommodating students based on their academic qualifications and backgrounds. Aspiring medical students can choose to enter the 5½ year MD program, which consists of a first and second-year pre-medical program spanning four semesters. This initial phase provides a solid foundation in fundamental subjects. After successfully completing the pre-medical program, students seamlessly transition into the 4-year MD program, focusing on the Basic Science and encompasses a comprehensive curriculum that includes Pre-clinical and Para-clinical subjects. , which spans five semesters. This structured approach ensures that students receive comprehensive medical education while allowing for personalized academic pathways.

  • Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the time of admission or by December 31st of the admission year for the MD program.
  • A high school diploma is required
  • A minimum of 90 credit hours of college courses is also required
