Depending on their qualifications, students can enter at different stages of the program: the Seven-Year MD Track begins at Preclinical Year 1, the Six-Year MD Track at Preclinical Year 2, and the Five-Year MD Track at Preclinical Year 3. Advanced Levels (A Levels): A minimum of 3 subjects with grades A or B in biology, chemistry, and either math or physics. If neither math nor physics was taken at A Levels, a strong third non-science subject may be accepted, provided there is proof that math or physics was taken at AS Level.
Approved Foundation Programs: SGU recognizes and approves a range of science/medical pathway programs.
Full IB Diploma: Requires a minimum score of 32 points. A minimum of 2 Higher Level (HL) science subjects is required, which must include chemistry and biology, with results of 5 or higher.
The 4-Year MD Program at St. George’s University offers international students a rigorous and rewarding medical education. The program is renowned worldwide and provides flexibility in study locations, allowing students to begin their education in Grenada or the UK.
The program is structured into two main phases: the basic sciences phase and the clinical training phase. During the basic sciences phase, students acquire a solid foundation in medical fundamentals, including anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. Students in the 5-Year MD Track will spend 1 year in Preclinical Sciences (Preclinical Year 3) and 1 year in Basic Sciences (Medical Year 1), followed by 2 years of Clinical Rotations in the US or UK. Students in the 4-Year MD Program can begin their studies in Grenada or the UK and complete 2 years of Clinical Rotations at over 75 affiliated hospitals and health systems in the US or UK.
Important Note: Clinical rotations in the UK are not permitted during the final six months of the program.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Assesses a student’s abilities in listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
Results are reported as band scores on a scale from 1 (lowest) to 9 (highest).
The overall band score is the average of the four component scores, rounded to the nearest whole or half band.
Component scores are weighted equally.
SGU Requirement: A minimum overall band score of 7.0, with 7.0 in each band (listening, reading, writing, and speaking).
